It’s going to be sort of frightening seeing these in the US coming up behind you on the highway. Kind of curious what the performance spec Genesis will look like now.

On a slightly related note, I think production of the coupe that was supposed to come out at the end of 2019 was bumped up in the production schedule. All the Genesis bigwigs keep mentioning it as if it’s coming WAY sooner.

Let hope. What else am I going to get to replace my current Genesis Coupe?

No clue since the Hyundai brand will only be FWD-based vehicles now including N Performance models. The Genesis brand will be only RWD-based vehicles (including the SUVs) but will all be more muscle cruisers than anything else no matter what. Kia is about to start a ride and handling renaissance much the way they hit reliability and features for years then moved to design and quality. Hmmm, you know what, maybe just get a used 2-series or Cayman.

I’m itching to get one of these into the country as fast as possible. Everything I have been hearing sounds quite good. And yeah, I like the new look. But then again, I have to.

I asked that question at the auto show yesterday, and there will not be another R-Spec sedan. They will have the new performance coupe instead the G70.

Yeah, it seems like the plan is to get the full lineup launched before 2020 before moving the top portion of the N Performance team over to Genesis. It also sounds as if the plan is for the future Genesis Performance Arm to utilize electric motors rather than being all engine (which would be very different from the Kia brand which will use RWD vehicles at the top end but stick to being all engine). I’m looking forward to the compact G70 Sedan that will be out next year, as well as the Kia GT Sedan (which is sized between the G70 and G80 Sedans). I’m expecting Genesis to be more inline with current Infiniti and Lexus (in terms of performance ethos) rather than any German brand.

Well, if it’s anything like the performance spec of the old Genesis, it’ll look exactly the same, just with a different badge and floor mats...

That’s like... $1,200 in bespoke features right there!

True enough! I do love the uber-stealthiness of it, though.

They mentioned that they will be twin turboing the 5.0 V8, but no mention of electronic propulsion at all. They said/(been saying since 08) that Genesis will be like Lexus and Infiniti, and it has taken them 8 years to get serious about it.
